A Portland Granjury indicted Bryan Kelley 36, on two counts of Assault II. Alleging that when he used a commercial grade laser capable of burning through wood and even metal on the eyes of police officers he caused them serious physical injury. With two counts of Assault II, Kelley could face up to 12 years in prison. In this case the police officers in question suffered permanent injury to their eyes.
Kelley was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail for the August 25th incident. This was part of the 100 days of riots in Portland where Antifa and BLM rioters threw Molotov cocktails, shot officers with urine and feces, used pellet guns, and commercial grade fire works to try and damage the federal courthouse. More than 100 rioters have been arrested with many of them facing more than 5 years in prison on federal charges.
With the Multnomah County DA, Mayor Ted Wheeler, and Governor Brown reluctant to condemn the violence it has grown out of control, that is until President Trump Deputized the Oregon State Police to start arresting the rioters and prosecuting them through federal court. Weird how charging them with crimes for them committed crimes works to stop the violence. Make sure to let Governor Brown and Mayor Wheeler know how upset you are with them at the polls in November.
